What is RSS?

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication” but is sometimes referred to as “XML,” “news feeds,” or just “feeds.” Sites use RSS to publish regularly updated content and allow people to subscribe to these updates.

You use software called a “feed reader” or “news aggregator” to subscribe to RSS feeds. (DeGeeked recommends Google's free, web-based Reader.) By subscribing to a site’s RSS feed, you can get updates made to the site automatically sent to you. This makes it easy to stay updated without having to visit a site everyday to check if new content has been added.
